秋学期の大学授業料、減額の動き

オハイオ州スチューベンビルのフランシスカン大学が、今秋の新入生の授業料を大学側が負担すると発表を聞いて、入学予定のアラン・ウッドさんの喜びようは大変なものだった。
同州チャグリンフォールのケンストン高校３年生のアランさんは２２日、「これで家族の負担がかなり軽減される。秋に大学に入れて、経済的な心配をしなくていいのはすごいことだ」と語った。
今秋の学期に授業料を減免する学校は、カトリック系のフランシスカン大学だけではない。国内最大規模のサザンニューハンプシャー大学は２１日、年間授業料の６１％減額を「加速」し、１万ドルにすることを発表した。
サザンニューハンプシャー大学も、新型コロナウイルス（ＣＯＶＩＤ－１９）の感染拡大を受けて、学内に住み、秋に始まるオンラインコースを取る新入生の１年間の授業料を負担すると発表した。
